Scott Adams is the Vice President of Secure Network Systems (SNS) at Viasat Inc. Mr. Adams has been with Viasat for 15 years with progressive responsibilities that led to his current position – Vice President of SNS. SNS is the cybersecurity business unit for Viasat. Viasat’s security portfolio includes solutions for government and commercial enterprises including cyber security systems, critical infrastructure protection, mobile phone/tablets, enterprise and transport network security, network encryption products, and data at rest security solutions. Since joining the organization, the business has demonstrated an order of magnitude of organic growth.
In over three decades of experience, Mr. Adams has held positions across a broad range of industries including: cybersecurity, signals intelligence, air defense and air traffic control systems, avionics and flight control systems, and SatCom telemetry tracking and control.
Mr. Adams received his BS in Computer Science and his MBA from the University of California at Irvine. Ongoing education throughout his career also includes numerous professional certificate programs. He enjoys everything outdoors; running, cycling, hiking, camping and surfing.

Randy Blaisdell has more than 37 years of experience applying cybersecurity expertise in national security, nuclear command-and-control, counterterrorism, and civil space applications.
As an independent consultant his customers include the Department of Defense chief information officer; the Aerospace Corporation’s vice president for independent reviews; and the Air Force’s space and missile systems center. He also consults with the healthcare and legal industries regarding cybersecurity, supply chain risk, and due diligence issues.
Prior to becoming a consultant, Mr. Blaisdell served as the director for information assurance at the Aerospace Corporation from 2007 to 2014. Mr. Blaisdell also served in the US Air Force from 1981 to 2007, retiring as a Colonel. Early in his career he co-authored the National Security Agency’s Trusted Computer Security Evaluation Criteria, the foundational document for cybersecurity theory and technology. He also operated one of the largest mainframe computing complexes in the world dedicated to nuclear planning and national command-and-control. Mr. Blaisdell has served as the program manager for multibillion-dollar major defense acquisitions, conducted international ballistic missile negotiations, managed foreign military sales efforts, and led programs with presidential involvement and oversight. His final assignments in the Air Force included serving as the senior communicator for intercontinental ballistic missile operations; director of communications and chief of staff for the Joint Task Force for Counterterrorism, Horn of Africa; and the director of information assurance for Air Force Space Command. Mr. Blaisdell has a bachelor of science degree in biology; a master of science degree in telecommunications science; a master of science degree in international strategic studies; and has completed his course work for a doctorate of management degree in information systems technology.

Laura Brent has held cyber policy roles in both the public and private sectors, addressing complex strategy, policy, and operational challenges in varied and fast-changing environments.
Ms. Brent currently serves within the Cyber Defence Section of the NATO International Staff, which provides advice, guidance, and support to the national delegations and decision-making processes of the Alliance. Ms. Brent is responsible for developing cyber policy on behalf of the Alliance, and she leads the International Staff’s work to implement cyberspace as a domain of operations at NATO.
Previously, at Ernst & Young, Ms. Brent conducted cybercrime investigations and assessments of clients’ cybersecurity maturity. Prior to Ernst & Young, Ms. Brent served at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, advising senior leaders on a broad range of national and homeland security issues including cybersecurity and critical infrastructure protection.
Ms. Brent holds a B.A. from Harvard College and an M.A. from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.

Before joining Mastercard, Dr. Brickey served in the Army on active duty for over 26 years, holding a variety of leadership and technical roles in information systems management and cyberspace operations. In his last position, he served as the Army Cyber Institute Partner Relations Director for the National Capital Region. Commissioned through the United States Military Academy in 1991, Colonel Brickey served in Army/Joint tactical and operational positions in the United States, Europe, and Southwest Asia, including company command in V Corps Artillery, Wiesbaden, Germany. He held leadership positions in Cyber-related programs at the National Security Agency, USCYBERCOM, USNORTHCOM, ARCENT, and ARCYBER. He retired as a Colonel in July of 2017.
Dr. Brickey earned his bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the United States Military Academy at West Point and holds a master’s degree in Science in Information Technology Management from the Naval Postgraduate School. Additionally, he earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Information Systems from the University of Colorado Denver.

Mr. Schneider played an instrumental role in the government-wide response to the OPM cybersecurity incidents in 2014 and 2015. Prior to joining the White House as Cybersecurity Adviser to the Federal Chief Information Officer in 2014, Mr. Schneider served as the Defense Intelligence Agency's CIO for seven years. Mr. Schneider is an avid sailor and enjoys a quiet moment on the Chesapeake Bay, when he can find one.

Colonel Darlene M. Straub, a native of Panama City, Florida, was commissioned a Second Lieutenant from the United States Military Academy in 1994. Upon completion of the Signal Officer Basic Course, she was assigned to the 124th Signal Battalion, 4th Infantry Division at Fort Hood, Texas where she served in the 124th Signal Battalion, and the 1-44 Air Defense Artillery Battalion holding positions as platoon leader, Battalion S1 and Battalion S6. After completing the Signal Officer Advanced Course, COL Straub was stationed in Germany where she served as the 41st Field Artillery Brigade S6 and commanded Charlie Company, 440th Signal Battalion, 22nd Signal Brigade. After company command, COL Straub, moved to MacDill Air Force Base, Florida and was assigned to the Joint Communications Support Element (JCSE). While at JCSE, she served as the 2nd Squadron operations officer, a J3 plans officer, and as the Deputy J3/Chief of Plans. During her tenure, she deployed in support of the Joint Special Operations Task Forces – North and Arabian Peninsula during Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). After completion of the Air Force Command and Staff College at Maxwell AFB, COL Straub returned to Fort Hood, Texas and immediately deployed in support of OIF 05-07 as the 3rd Signal Brigade Operations Officer. Her next position was Battalion S-3 of the 57th Signal Battalion where she deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). Next, COL Straub was assigned as the executive officer to the Commanding General, Network and Enterprise Command (NETCOM) and as a G3 plans officer at Fort Huachuca, Arizona. COL Straub was then reassigned back to Fort Hood, Texas where she served as the III Corps G6 plans officer and Battalion Commander of the 57th Expeditionary Signal Battalion (ESB). She deployed her battalion back to Kandahar Afghanistan in support of OEF. Her next duty assignment was to Fort Bragg, NC and where she joined the FORSCOM G6 team as Tactical Command, Control, Communications, and Computers Division, Communications Branch, Branch Chief. Next, she was assigned to Fort McNair, Washington, DC and attended the National Defense University. She is currently assigned as the Chief, Defensive Cyber Operations at Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) at Ft. Meade, Maryland. Her military education and civilian education includes Signal Officer Basic Course and the Signal Officer Advanced Course. She received a Bachelor of Science from the United States Military Academy, a Master of Arts from the Air Force Command and Staff College and a Master of Science from the National Defense University.

Jillian is currently providing subject matter expertise in satellite applications and space technology development to commercial, government, and international clients on projects such as the Commercialization of Low Earth Orbit study for NASA and the recently completed Southern Arizona Space Ecosystem study for the University of Arizona. Prior to Deloitte, Jillian was a research analyst with The Tauri Group (now Bryce Space and Technology), where she supported multiple NASA organizations including the Agency’s Office of the Chief Financial Officer, identified new markets for commercial space ventures, and analyzed space industry-wide technology and business trends. In 2016 Jillian co-authored a published white paper on venture capital investment in disruptive aerospace technologies and moderated the investment panel at NewSpace Europe in 2017 that discussed investment trends in early-stage European space companies. James L. Turgal, Jr, Executive Assistant Director (EAD), Information and Technology Branch, entered on duty in March 1996 and was assigned to the Houston Division, working Organized Crime and Drug investigations. Upon being promoted as a Supervisory Special Agent, he was assigned to FBI Headquarters, Office of General Counsel and the Counterterrorism Division, as the senior counsel for Domestic Terrorism Operations.
In 2002, Jim was assigned to the Cincinnati Division as Chief Division Counsel, Media Spokesperson, and Supervisory Special Agent. Four years later, he returned to FBI Headquarters to lead the Director’s Research Group.
He later became the Assistant Special Agent in Charge of Administration at the Washington Field office.
In 2010, Jim was selected to serve as the Special Assistant to the Deputy Director, providing counsel on various national security, criminal, and administrative issues affecting the FBI. One year later, he was designated Special Agent in Charge of the Phoenix Division, where he oversaw several high profile cases, including the shooting of U.S. Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. In 2012, Jim returned to FBI Headquarters, as the Deputy Assistant Director of the Human Resources Division (HRD).
In August 2013, Director Robert S. Mueller, III appointed Jim as the Assistant Director (AD) of the HRD. During this time, he served as the AD and Human Resource Officer.

During 26 years as a naval officer, he served in a variety of surface ships, including command of a destroyer squadron and guided missile destroyer. He holds a BS in Physics and Oceanography from the U.S. Naval Academy, a MSE in Mathematical Sciences and a Ph.D. in International Relations from Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Wells was the first U.S. naval officer to attend the Japanese National Institute for Defense Studies in Tokyo.
